Connecting wearables to Ladder
How to connect Garmin, Fitbit, WHOOP, Oura, and other wearables to Ladder, and what to do if your workout data isn't showing up correctly.
Updated Oct 6, 2026
Can I connect a Garmin, Fitbit, WHOOP, Oura, or other wearable to Ladder?
Yes! As of version 4.7.0, Ladder supports Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, Fitbit, Apple Watch, and any other wearable that writes workout data to Apple Health. Make sure you're on the latest version of the Ladder app to access wearable support.
Ladder uses Apple Health as the bridge — your wearable app needs to write workout data to Apple Health first, then Ladder can match and import your metrics.
Apple Watch has auto-sync for the most seamless experience.
For all other wearables (Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, Fitbit), the process is a bit different:
- These devices do not appear as a selectable option on the workout start screen in Ladder, even if you've connected them through Settings → Connections. This is expected, not a bug.
- To sync a workout: record it on your wearable as normal, make sure your wearable's app (Garmin Connect, WHOOP, Oura, or Fitbit) is set up to sync workout data to Apple Health, then open Ladder, go to your workout summary, tap Update, and select the corresponding workout from Apple Health to pull in heart rate and calorie data.
- Your wearable app may need to sync before the workout appears in Apple Health — if it doesn't show up right away, open your wearable app and manually sync first.
- Make sure Ladder has permission to read from Apple Health: on your phone go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Ladder → ensure Read is enabled.
This isn't as seamless as a direct integration yet, but a more integrated wearable experience is something Ladder is actively working toward.
How do I connect my wearable to Ladder? How do I set up wearable tracking?
To connect your wearable to Ladder:
- Make sure your wearable app is set up to write workout data to Apple Health
- Open Ladder and follow the wearable setup flow — you'll see a picker to choose your device (Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, Fitbit, Apple Watch, or Other)
- Grant Ladder the Apple Health permissions it needs (workouts, active energy, heart rate)
- When starting a workout, start your wearable session at the same time so the times line up for matching afterward
The key requirement: if your workout doesn't make it into Apple Health first, Ladder won't be able to find it.
What's different about Apple Watch vs Garmin/WHOOP/Oura/Fitbit on Ladder?
Apple Watch has auto-sync in 4.7.0 — it connects more directly to Ladder and syncs more automatically after your workout.
For all other wearables (Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, Fitbit, and others), the flow relies on Apple Health as the middle layer:
- Your wearable app needs to write the workout to Apple Health
- You then match or add the workout in Ladder after finishing
Non-Apple Watch wearables are not automatically syncing — you need to confirm the match at the end of each workout if you want your progress tracked.
My wearable workout isn't showing up in Ladder. What do I do?
If your wearable workout isn't showing in Ladder, check the following:
-
Check Apple Health first — does the workout appear in the Health app? If not, the issue is between your wearable app and Apple Health, not Ladder. Check that your wearable app is allowed to write workouts to Apple Health in its settings.
-
Check Ladder's Health permissions — open Ladder → Settings → Connections → Apple Health and confirm workouts, active energy, and heart rate are all enabled. Or check iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Ladder.
-
Retry matching — once the workout appears in Apple Health, go back to Ladder and try matching again.
If the workout appears in Apple Health but still won't show in Ladder, contact support and include your device type, wearable app, workout date and time, a screenshot of the workout in Apple Health, and your Ladder app version.
How do I add my wearable workout data to Ladder? What are my options after a workout?
After finishing a workout, you have three ways to bring your wearable data into Ladder:
-
Match from Apple Health — choose your wearable session from Apple Health and Ladder pulls in your metrics (calories, heart rate when available). Use this when your workout is already in Apple Health.
-
Manual Upload — enter your workout numbers directly. Use this when you know your stats and want to enter them yourself.
-
Photo / Screenshot Upload — take a photo or screenshot of your workout summary and Ladder reads the values. Use a clear, uncropped screenshot from your wearable app showing calories and heart rate. Avoid blurry or partial images.
For most wearables (non-Apple Watch), matching is not automatic — you'll need to add or match your workout after finishing.
Why isn't my Ladder workout showing up in WHOOP?
Ladder writes your workouts to Apple Health, and WHOOP reads that workout data from Apple Health.
If your workouts aren't appearing in WHOOP, the issue is most likely on the WHOOP side of the integration rather than Ladder, as long as you've enabled all the necessary Apple Health permissions for the Ladder and Apple Health connection.
If your Apple Health permissions are already on and your workouts are showing correctly in Apple Health but still aren't appearing in WHOOP, contact WHOOP Support for further help.
