Canceling or pausing your subscription
Steps to cancel or pause your Ladder membership, and what happens to your access and progress.
Updated Oct 6, 2026
How do I cancel my subscription?
How you cancel depends on how you subscribed — through Apple (in the app) or through Stripe (our web checkout).
If you subscribed through Apple:
- Open the Settings app on your phone.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap the subscription that you want to manage.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. If you don't see Cancel, the subscription is already canceled and won't renew.

If you subscribed through Stripe (web):
- Go to pay.joinladder.com/sign-in — you'll be redirected to www.joinladder.com/app/settings.
- Sign in with your Apple ID (the same one you use for the Ladder app — Apple ID is the only sign-in method).
- On the Settings page, tap the manage membership button. It signs you into your Stripe billing portal automatically.
- In the billing portal you can cancel your subscription (or update your plan and payment method).
If you pay through Flex (HSA/FSA): Contact Ladder Support to have your subscription canceled.
Can I un-cancel my membership if I change my mind?
It depends on where you are in the cancellation process:
If your subscription is still active and just scheduled to cancel (you can still see your access end date in the app), you can un-cancel by going to Settings > Membership & Billing > Restore Purchases on your Apple device.
If your access has already fully ended (the cancellation date has passed and you no longer have access), Restore Purchases will not bring back your old subscription — Apple has already closed out that billing cycle. In this case, you'll need to resubscribe as a new purchase through the app or joinladder.com. Any trial or promotional pricing you had before is not guaranteed to carry over.
Will I still have access to the App and features after canceling?
Once you cancel your subscription you will have full access to the app and features until the end of your current bill cycle. Once that ends, you can still access the app but will not have access to all the workouts and other app features. You can rejoin anytime after your subscription has been canceled.
If I cancel my membership and come back, will my progress be saved?
Yes! If you rejoin with the same APPLE ID, your workout progress and data will be saved and ready for you when you return.
Will downloaded workouts remain accessible after my Ladder subscription expires?
Once your Ladder subscription ends, you’ll lose access to all workouts, including any that you’ve downloaded.
How do I pause my membership?
We currently do not have the ability to pause a Ladder Membership. You would have to cancel your account and sign back up whenever you’re ready to come back!
How do I change my membership plan (upgrade or downgrade)?
If you subscribed through Apple:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap your name, then tap Subscriptions.
- Tap LADDER Strength Training Plans.
- Tap See All Plans, then follow the onscreen instructions to complete your purchase.
If you subscribed through Stripe (web):
- Go to pay.joinladder.com/sign-in and sign in with the Apple ID you use for the Ladder app.
- Tap the manage membership button. It signs you into your Stripe billing portal automatically.
- In the billing portal, update your plan.
If you pay through Flex (HSA/FSA):
At this time, Ladder only offers the annual plan through Flex, so there's no monthly/annual switch to make. If you'd like to talk through other options, you can chat further with Ladder Support.
When the change takes effect:
- If you upgrade (for example, monthly to annual), it takes effect immediately.
- If you downgrade (for example, annual to monthly), it takes effect at your next renewal date.
- If you switch to the annual plan, you can't go back to monthly until the year is complete.
When you upgrade from monthly to annual, you may see both charges for a short time. This is temporary. Apple issues a prorated refund for the difference, so you aren't charged twice for the same period. Apple handles the refund. If it doesn't show up, you can contact Apple directly: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084
